Gas Safety Tips

Gas appliances are energy efficient, safe, affordable, and reliable. Like any appliance, it is important to understand that there are potential health and safety risks.

Here are our top 5 tips to ensure that your gas appliances are running safely and efficiently.

  1. Ensure all gas appliances are installed and regularly serviced by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. Appliances should be serviced at least once a year. By law, a gas engineer must be registered to carry out work on gas appliances. All the engineers at Browne's Gas Services are Gas Safe Registered.

  1. If you think a gas appliance might not be working properly then do not use it, under any circumstances.

  1. Ensure that ventilation bricks, grills or outside flues are not covered or blocked or obstructed.

  1. A carbon monoxide detector can be used as an extra safety measure (although don't rely on this alone).

  1. If you live in rented accommodation, then remember that it is your landlord's legal obligation to arrange an annual gas safety check.

Renewable Energy Solutions at Meadowfarm

Also known as renewable propane and biopropane, Calor BioLPG is propane produced from renewable feedstocks, such as plant and vegetable waste material.

This is an ideal energy solution for those aiming to reduce their carbon footprint, as it can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80%. Here at Browne's Gas Services, we fully support Calor’s aim to offer our customers 100% renewable energy solutions by 2040.

Located in Downpatrick, our friends at Meadowfarm Potatoes and Farm Shop currently use BioLPG to power their forklift machinery. To complement this, we recently installed two fabulous eco-friendly stoves in the Meadowfarm Tearoom, an environmentally friendly approach to ensuring that customers were warm and cosy over the winter months.
